In an effort to boost exports to Canada, the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has planned to host the fourth edition of the Pakistan Trade Expo 2018 in Toronto in October this year.

“We will host this expo after conducting research in Canada about potential demand for our products. We have been given details about the market and imports from regions like India etc,” FPCCI Senior Vice President Mazhar Ali Nasir told The Express Tribune.

Pakistan exported goods worth $319 million to Canada in 2017, a year-on-year increase of 12.6%. Meanwhile, its imports stood at $580 million.

Nasir said the FPCCI has extended the invitation to Pakistani businessmen and shared information with its members, manufacturers, and exporters.

He further said that the event could help Pakistan capture the North American market.

SM Muneer, chairman of the Pakistan Canada Business Council FPCCI, will supervise arrangements of the exhibition in Toronto, he added.

Munir said that he and his team will invite leading buyers of chain stores and superstores from the North American region to attend the exhibition.

He said that special business-to-business (B2B) meetings will also be arranged at the sidelines of the exhibition in order to form relations with potential North American importers.
