Epic Games has announced the enormously popular game Fortnite will launch on Android in the summer.
Fortnite launched on iOS in April, during which it was an invite-only beta game; but still managed to attract a massive following and investment from keen players.
In a blog post the company writes:
“We are targeting this summer for the release. We know many of you are excited for this release, and we promise that when we have more information to share, you’ll hear it from us first.”
It also outlines some other changes coming to the game. It’s promising to reduce the size of the installation file by compressing the file, along with a reduction in the size of updates and patches. Epic Games also intends to introduce background downloads.
Fortnite is a cross-platform game, and one new feature planned for the mobile edition is voice chat, which will enable conversations between players regardless of the platform. An open-mic system will be joined by the chance to mute yourself, or everyone in your party. Updates related to game performance and stability are also planned.
Expect the Android version of Fortnite to make as big a splash as the iOS version did.
