Ride-hailing giant Careem has announced its partnership with Edhi Foundation to provide ambulance services in the country.
The customers of the ride-hailing app can now make a ‘later’ booking for the service by clicking on the ambulance category.
They will then receive a booking confirmation and the ambulance will arrive at the designated location at the time the ambulance is booked for.
With this feature, Careem “aims to optimize ambulance services via its platform thereby reducing the crucial arrival time of an ambulance to the patient.”
It’s important to note, that the service rolled out is only limited to non-emergency situations and would only play a role in transferring patients that are not critical.
“Our mission is to make people’s lives simpler by providing them with a variety of convenient transportation solutions that respond to local needs. Quick availability of ambulance is a pressing concern and we look to facilitate our users through technology,” said Junaid Iqbal, Managing Director of Careem Pakistan.
As of now, the service is only available in Karachi but the company aims to expand its services to other cities of Pakistan
Recently, Careem found itself under the radar after the company announced that user data was compromised in a cyber attack. According to a released statement, information including “Customers’ name, email addresses, phone numbers and trip data” were breached during the attack that took place at the start of the year.
