Karachi Likely to Hold 2 PSL Matches in 2018

After much consideration, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) now intends to hold 2 matches of the 3rd edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Karachi next year.

As reported by a local news agency, a senior PCB official confirmed that the the board plans to hold at least 4 matches of PSL’s 2018 edition in Pakistan. The PCB official stated,

Two of the matches will be held in Karachi whereas two others, including the final, will be held in Lahore.

PCB chairman Najam Sethi will be meeting CM Murad Ali Shah today to go over the details regarding the arrangements required to host the 2 fixtures in Karachi, as confirmed by the PCB official yesterday.

The official also said,

Najam Sethi will also take up the issue of security and coordination among the law enforcement agencies for the next PSL season.

The player draft will be held on November 10th. It was moved to October due to requests from two franchises, however, the issue was resolved and it was postponed to November.

The decision has initially come as a result of the South African T20 Global league which was going to kick off in November. Durban Qalanders and Benoni Zalmi, two Pakistani franchises were also supposed to take part in the T20 Global League. The South African league has now been postponed until next year allowing the board to hold the draft as per normal schedule.

The third edition of the PSL will start in February 2018.
