Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is likely to  inaugurate the New Islamabad International Airport after  November, 22.

According to media reports, Federal capital would be connected with new Islamabad international airport through a six lane road by December 31, 2017.

Construction work on the upgradation of the current highway by National Highway Authority (NHA) is in full swing and contractors have been directed by the authority to complete all their work by 22 November, 2017.

Similarly approach road, which is under construction from Zero Point via Peshawar Motorway fly over to New Islamabad International airport, would be made operational from 22 November. Once that’s done. New Islamabad International airport would be open for domestic and international flights.

It must be mentioned here that Islamabad airport has been facing constant delays for years now. Its completion was was expected 2 years ago. Every year two or three new inauguration dates are announced but the actual inauguration never takes place.

The latest inauguration date was promised by the government this year – on August 14th – but it didn’t happen because the work could not be completed in time. Previous reports suggested that it got delayed to December due to incomplete link roads.
